0195 ARCHITECT'S AND ENGINEER'S SPECIFICATION MSR-6O4 II Active Signal Distribution system The active signal splitter shall provide for four independent channels with each channel having one balanced microphone input and four independent balanced outputs. Each channel shall have switchable phantom power and gain. The gain shall be selectable by a front-panel switch for each channel, and a 10dB attenuator inserted remotely by sending a DC voltage across one output. Internal attenuators shall be provided so that the system may be operated at Mic or Line levels on input and/or output. In addition, the unit shall have two of the outputs transformer-balanced and floating (pin 1 lifted) at Mic levels to provide a high voltage isolation barrier. Transformers shall be available as an option for the input and main outputs. An LED shall be provided on each channel to indicate when the output is clipping. The unit shall have excellent noise, headroom, and distortion performance and shall be driven from a master power supply unit with pre-regulated DC voltage. All signal connectors shall be 3-pin, XLR-type, wired in a standard balanced format. There shall be facility on each channel for the signal to be fed to a headphone output and led signal meter located in the system power supply. The splitter shall be configurable to provide 4, 8, 12 or 16 outputs from a single source in any one unit via user-programmable links. Adjacent units shall be linkable to expand the capabilities of the system up to 64 outputs. Each channel gain shall be selectable from -10dB to +30dB in 10dB steps. Equivalent input noise shall be better than -125dBu at a gain of 20dB, and the input common mode rejection ratio better than 90dB at 1kHz. High voltage isolation for the transformer balanced outputs shall be 2500V AC 50Hz, for 1 minute, or greater. The splitter shall incorporate sufficient safety fuse systems that unit failure does not affect the overall system. The active microphone splitter shall be standard 19" rack mount, 1¾" (1U) high, and shall be the BSS MSR-6O4-II. MSR-6O2-II - Master System Power Supply The system power supply shall provide all the DC voltages necessary to drive the BSS MSR-6O4-II units to their full specification and include a signal meter and headphone amplifier to monitor any selected channel. In addition the unit shall be capable of operating over a mains supply range equivalent to +10% to -20% of the nominal set voltage rating. The system shall provide fail-safe operation by connecting 2 or more units in parallel without degradation of performance, or of adding switching noise in the event of failure of one unit. This unit shall be capable of providing enough power to drive a maximum of 10 complete MSR-6O4-II units simultaneously. The unit shall be sufficiently wellelectromagnetically screened that no hum shall be induced into any equipment that may be mounted directly above or below it. The power supply unit shall be standard 19" rack mount, 1¾" (1U) high and shall be the BSS MSR-6O2-II.
