A typical system now will use 9088iis' devices to provide the basic input and output capacity, then add 9008iis devices to expand further outputs.

The Soundweb 9008iis device is identical in basic functionality to a standard 9088iis device in regards to networking and DSP processing, except it has no analogue inputs, only 8 analogue outputs. This means that it is a very cost-effective way of designing systems that require a much larger ratio of outputs to inputs.
